Better logging

Hi, I'd like to suggest improving the sever logging features, since they're a bit barebones for now. Here are few topics that could be improved: New log file every day. I don't understand exactly when the server starts a new log file now, but reading 20MB text files is cumbersome. Ability to toggle ...

Thank you very much! Will add it to the deployment schedule and see if that fixes the problem.

Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

Finally managed to reproduce the issue, it's pretty random.

See the attached screeenshots. The client is idle, and thinks it has nothing to render.

Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

Have you checked whether the rendering process actually has shut down? Yes, as madCGi has said, the process has been successfully killed, the frames generally are rendered out ok, but the client somehow fails to update the status. This leads to some render slaves being essentially idle until the pr...

Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

Can confirm this issue persists through multiple upgrades of the RenderPal server, different versions of 3DSMax and different versions of Vray. After observing it for a while, my guess would be that the client sometimes fails to correctly flag a frame as finished (probably because it doesn't correct...

Re: An error occurred during the commandline compilation

Thank you for the help! Ok, so just to make sure, my script looks like this. import os from RenderPal import * from RenderSystem import * def CompileCommandLineSwitch(phase, cmdLineSwitch, cmdLineSwitchList, renderSet, result): if phase == phaseExec: if cmdLineSwitch.GetSwitch() == "-frames": fstart...

An error occurred during the commandline compilation

Hi, so I'm having an issue with a render job throwing up this error: === OrbitClean_Shot_02, Chunk 1 - 11-Dec-17 11:05:44 AM ============================================ Scenes: \\NAS\studio\Projects\ELN3600_DishwasherAnimations\Temp\Production\3DSMax\Scenes\OrbitClean\_old\OrbitClean_Draft_10.max S...

Running multiple clients

Hi,

We're currently doing a bit of experimenting with renderfarm configuration, which requires running 2 clients / render node.
Unfortunately RenderPal seems to use a license for each client instance, which creates and obvious problem.

Any way to fix this?

Thanks!

Re: Adding and enforcing custom fields

Hmm looks like it may be possible with a combination of nj_setfield, nj_tags and nj_project, but that would require us to basically write our own submitter.

Thanks for the tip!
