Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

I also believe that the only fix is a period client check; added to our to do list. Maybe add a server acknowledge event after a client reports chunk finished, and if the client does not receive that it retries every x seconds? Assuming it doesn't already work that way, of course, I haven't actuall...

Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

Already ruled security software out. Dedicated render slaves are separate from artist machines and they have the same issue even though they run no additional security and even the windows firewalls are disabled. I think the server failing to acknowledge a finished chunk event is most likely, since ...

Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

No domain right now, that's actually planned shortly and I'm curious if it will fix the issue in any way.
RenderPal runs as an app, since it's too complicated to handle permissions for services right now.

Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

Our setup is fairly straightforward. Windows 7 machines (because we're a Max shop), all project files and assets are on a centralized network location, which may be part of the issue (I'm thinking it randomly fails when I/O load on the network storage is too high, but I haven't been able to pinpoint...

Rendering multiple cameras with render elements

One thing that would be really nice to have is when submitting multiple cameras from a single scene, the submitter would also update the 3DS Max render elements paths. Right now it outputs the RGB files just fine, but the render elements are unaffected and simply get overwritten. That's rather annoy...

Re: clients not reporting chunk finished

We've actually been seeing the same issue on occasion. It seems to happen more with scenes with longer render times (more than 1 hr/ frame), but it is not tied to specific render slaves or scene settings, though it has been happening less as of late. (Not sure if it''s upgrading to Max 2016, Vray 3....

Re: Cpu usage 0%

Cool, thank you.

Strange that it only affects a few machines though.

Re: Cpu usage 0%

Task manager on clients is normal, 100% CPU usage on all cores while rendering. This is what the client logs looks like from one of them. Project names and paths edited due to NDA, but the scenes rendered normally. === [snip].max - Camera: Camera001, Chunk 3 - 10/20/2015 6:39:56 PM Scenes: [snip].ma...

Cpu usage 0%

Hi, I was just wondering how RenderPal actually reports client CPU usage. The problem is that we have a couple of machines on the network that report 0% CPU usage even while rendering. The jobs render fine, but it's annoying to be unable to monitor usage and it also means I can't use the option to r...
