'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

Postby fredrik » 23 Sep 2013, 20:58

Hi, I just downloaded the Linux client from here and I am trying to run it on CentOS 6.4 but I'm getting an error. It seems everything get stuck at this point and the client machine does not show up in the server although I have specified an alias for the client as well as the broadcast address (server address) in RpClientCmd.conf.

Code: Select all
[root@rn10gen01 rpclientcmd]# ./rpclientcmd
[root@rn10gen01 rpclientcmd]# 'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

It looks like the PYTHONPATH environment variable needs to be set to something?

This is completely normal; the warning can be ignored. Try to add the client manually in the server; maybe the UDP heartbeat packet doesn't come through properly.

Hi Tak,

Ok, I actually disabled the firewall temporarily to just make sure this would get up and running.
Do you know which specific ports I should open up in the firewall?

I stumbled upon another issue after having disabled the firewall. It seems that the Linux client get a connection with the server, but it is immediately disconnected for some reason. What could be going on?

The ports you should always open are 6507, 7506, 2705, 4305, 4306 by default. As for the connection problem, do the server and client versions actually match?

Ah, that was it. I was running a newer client version than the server. It's now up and running. Many thanks for the help.
