installing mac client error

we are trying to install the RenderPal client on mac os x and followed all instructions and also read all possible forum entries

we get the following error

readlink: illegal option -- f
completed


what can be done to fix that issue? no icon appears after restarting either. thanks

When do you get that error? Could you post the entire output?

We will look into it. Also keep in mind that the Daemon is only an optional feature and not required to simply run the client; the client itself does not need any kind of installation.

Please try the following:

1. Open the following file in a text editor: <CmdClient>/daemon/tray/rptray.sh
2. Go to line 14 (should read symlink=`readlink -f $0`)
3. Change the -f to -n
4. Save the file and install the client daemon again

I think you didn't change it correctly. Change -f to -n, not --f.

thanks it worked. I was in the wrong folder.

only last issue is. where is the icon? it says it was installed but I don't see it anywhere. thanks
also will it allow to turn a client to "render when screen saver is on" mode?

If the icon doesn't show up, first update your Java version to the latest one. There is no such option in the MacOSX client.
