Redshift standalone (RS files)

Postby atxvfx » 28 Jul 2016, 17:36

How would I go about setting up RenderPal to support Redshift RS files? From the render management section in
RenderPal I can only find Redshift for Maya which is looking for .ma and .mb files. We currently have a lot more
redshift licenses than maya licenses, so we need the ability to submit and render .rs files. Basically how it handles
standalone VRay with vrscene files.

Thanks!

You'll have to create an entirely new renderer for this. The way to go is to first get all necessary information on how the Redshift command-line support looks like, and then create the renderer in RenderPal (consult our manual for full details; we really can't explain this rather complex topic here).

Here's a basic version of the Redshift standalone renderer; you can always extend our implementation to fit your own needs.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks, I got the basic submission working. My last question is how do I go about submitting multiple scene files as one job? Redshift is generating an .rs file per frame... I was reading through the documentation but couldn't find out exactly how to deal with this. Is there a way to just submit the folder holding all of them?

Thanks again.

What do you use for submitting the jobs?

That one cannot be used to submit jobs containing multiple scenes, as it is a feature rather rarely used. Either use the Remote Controller or our command-line RC. However, you could also create one job per .rs file.

Assuming that you've properly configured it, a simple command-line could look like this:
Code: Select all
RpRcCmd.exe -nj_renderer Redshift -nj_name Test C:\myfiles\file1.rs C:\myfiles\file2.rs C:\myfiles\file3.rs

This will create a job with three scenes.

great, will it just treat those different scene files as frames? can the submitted scenes be batched at all (i.e. send 5 per machine)?
