Cancelling Jobs with Python Script?

Postby pythonUser » 25 Jun 2015, 21:41

Is there any way to stop a job from happening on the client side with a Pre-render event? Is there a method in RenderPal which will cancel the Render?

Thanks

The only way to do this is to invoke the command-line RC to cancel the job, though this might be dangerous during an event (but worth testing). Depending on what you are doing in your event, you should consider writing a renderer script, as this can easily cancel a job on the client side.

I need to be doing everything from the client side. This will be on a per-client basis. What would writing a renderer script entail in terms of time commitment?

Renderer scripts are always executed on the client side. The effort should not be much higher than writing an event, though it depends on what you need to do (not everything can be done by writing a renderer callback). Our manual has quite an extensive section about renderer scripting, so you should take a look at it first.
