Crash with RpV2.14, Maya2017 Update 1

Postby pechart » 26 Sep 2016, 15:18

Hi!
We just updated to 2.14.0 (Server, Clients, RCs, Submitters and Scripts) and also to Maya 2017 Update 1. Unfortunatly the submitter crashes immediatly after the script's execution, as soon as the submitter window opens.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Did you try a clean installation? Also, what happens if you start the submitter manually? We're also using Maya 2017 SP 1 here, without any issues.

Just did a clean re-install of RP. Unfortunatly now I get:

import rpSubmit
rpSubmit.rpSubmit()
rpSubmit: Initializing...
rpSubmit: Submitter location: C:\Program Files (x86)\RenderPal V2\Submitter\RpSubmitter.exe
rpSubmit: Settings exported to: c:\users\markus\appdata\local\temp\RpSubmitterData.ini
rpSubmit: Launching RenderPal V2 Submitter...
# Error: WindowsError: file C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2017\bin\python27.zip\subprocess.py line 958: 740 #

Running the submitter standalone works. RC and Client too.

Oh, maybe this is relatd to the latest Win10 Update. It seems that they changed something in the whole UAC/Admin area. And RenderPal requires Admin-Rights to work properly, right?

It's certainly recommended.

So, how can I grant those to the submitter when starting from Maya? Or do you have any other idea what's going on?

If you run Maya with elevated privileges, these should be inherited by all child processes. The Windows error code 740 translates to The requested operation requires elevation. , so running Maya either under an admin account or with elevated privileges should do the trick.

Ok, starting Maya as Admin removes the subprocess error.

But still the Submitter just crashes while opening. This is a serious thing, because if that doesn't work we have to go back to Maya 2016!

Does this happen with any scene? Also, take a look into your TEMP folder (open it by typing %TEMP% into Windows' Run prompt) after this happens; if there is a RpSubmitterData.ini (or similar), send us that file.

This happens everytime, yes. Also on my colleagues machine.

Here's the file, I just X-ed the project directory.
