Question regarding 3DSmax submission

Postby Mrodvfx » 02 Nov 2014, 00:05

When submitting a job to RenderPal through 3DSmax.

I am curious if the project file is copied to each computer, similarly to how backburner does. Rather than reading the saved project from the server.

For instance when using backburner:

I submit a render from the scene, it copies the current state of the project file to the backburner server, which then sends that copy out to all the nodes.
I would then make additional changes to the scene for other passes / renders, and submit those. This never writes over the scene unless I save it. But also does not affect any of the other renders that are currently taking place.

Does RenderPal do something similar?

This is not a big deal, but it would be good to know so I can change the way my pipeline/render submission works.

Thanks,

RenderPal has an option to do this called local scene caching; it is not turned on by default.

Thanks Tak,

With the local scene caching setting, does it copy the project and all the assets? For instance does it copy all, lets say Fumefx data, which can mount to terabytes of data, or texture data, etc..
Or just project data?

Only the scene file is cached.
