RenderPal Server with link aggregation

Post by MLK » 03 Aug 2018, 11:41

Here a little topic for those, like me, who use RenderPal server on a Windows server with link aggregation.
When you setup NIC teaming in the server manager, you may add several adapters to the team. Each come with their own MAC adress.
RPal server licence is based on the adapter unique ID but the way link aggregation works on Windows server, it randomly returns a licence error.

This is due to the fact that Windows server chooses dynamically a MAC adress for the virtual adapter wich is chosen amongst those in the team.
Depending on the adress used when you Registered the licence, it yields a license error when the mac changes.

To fix it, you have to override this behaviour in the properties of the virtual adapter. Set up a static mac adress to match the one you used for registration.
