WindowsError 740

Postby FruehBird » 17 May 2018, 18:57

After updating to 2.15.1 the communication to RpRcCmd.exe is giving us an error.
Code: Select all
WindowsError: [Error 740] The requested operation requires elevation

This error is from running
Code: Select all
subprocess.Popen(cmd, startupinfo=startInfo, stdout=subprocess.PIPE)

This worked with all previous versions. Has anything changed that would cause this?

After updating the server the everything auto updates but seems that this last round did not install with correct privileges?
(Windows 10 v16299.431)

I can run the application I'm using as Admin but this is only a temporary solution.

Try a fresh installation.

We've just released a new update that should solve this. You might need to perform a fresh installation anyway, though.

That update has fixed most of our computers. Thank you! However, some of our machines still produce the 740 error, even with clean uninstall and re-installation. Any ideas what would be causing this? Registry keys maybe?

Registry keys don't affect this (nor does the cmdline RC create any). Make sure that the executable you are using really is V2.15.2. Keep in mind that the error stems from your script and not the RC directly, so there might be other causes as well.

I was able to figure it out. The C:\Program Files (x86)\RenderPal V2\CmdRC\RpRcCmd.exe file compatibility properties were set to run as admin. Disabling that fixed one of the machines and should do the same to the others.

Thanks for your help!
